WELCOME TO PISO UNO, A PARTNERSHIP OF DREAMERS, YOUNG ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS DEDICATED TO PERFECTLY EMBODYING EMOTIONS THROUGH DENIM.WITH ROOTS IN THE MEXICAN TRADITION, WE HANDCRAFT OUR PIECES AND PUT OUR HEARTS INTO EVERYTHING WE DO.

OUR DESIGNS ARE TO BE WORN BY DENIM LOVERS AND THOSE WHO APPRECIATE DETAILS. OUR CLOTHING IS CRAFTED WITH CARE FOR YOU TO CREATE YOUR OWN CANVAS IN LIFE.

PISO UNO´S KEY CONCEPT IS EARTHING[1], WHICH IS A METAPHORICAL WAY OF SAYING THAT OUR BRAND IS CREATED TO CONVEY THAT WE HAVE OUR FEET ON THE GROUND, BUT ALSO WINGS. WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY WITH A DESPERATE NEED FOR COMMUNICATING AND OUR BRAND USES CREATIVITY AS A FORM OF EXPRESSION AND INTERACTION.

OUR MAIN INSPIRATION IS KINTSUKUROI [1] PHILOSOPHY WHICH IS A JAPANESE TRADITION OF ACCEPTING ONE ANOTHER´S FLAWS. TO US, IT´S THE ART OF ADMIRING IMPERFECTIONS. ONLY BY ACCOMPLISHING THIS, CAN INDIVIDUALS AND UNIQUE PIECES COME TOGETHER TO SHARE THE LIGHT. THE JAPANESE PRACTICE THIS BY REPAIRING BROKEN TEACUPS WITH GOLD GLUE.

AT PISO UNO, WE DO THE SAME THROUGH DENIM WITH THE SOLE PURPOSE OF PUTTING OUR GRAIN OF SALT INTO HELPING THE WORLD BECOME A BETTER PLACE. WE REPRESENT THE BEAUTY IF THE TRUE HUMAN SOUL, LIKE A SHELL PROTECTING A DIAMOND.

HENCE, WHEN THEY PUT THEMSELVES TOGETHER, STAND UP FOR THEIR LOSES AND TRAUMAS AND REPAIR THEMSELVES, THEY EMBRACE THEIR FLAWS. THROUGH THIS PROCESS, THEY BECOME LIVING PROOF OF HUMAN FRAGILITY AND IMPERFECTION, WHICH IS CHERISHED AS BEAUTY AND STRENGHT.

THIS IS HOW PISO UNO BEGINS…

 

PISO UNO WAS BORN OUT OF GENUINE MOMENTS EXPERIENCED BETWEEN THE FOUNDERS, VANESSA TROICE AND DANIELA ASKENAZI. THEIR PASSION FOR SHARING WITH OTHER PEOPLE THE ARRAY OF FEELINGS THEY WERE HAVING IN THEIR EARLY TWENTIES, CONDUCTED THEM TO CAPTURE THEIR INTERPRETATION OF LIFE’S STAGES THROUGH A DENIM FASHION BRAND. THEIR MAIN PURPOSE IS TO COMMUNICATE A POSITIVE ESSENCE ON A SHARED UNDERSTANDING AND TO FOCUS ON THE POWER OF REAL EMOTIONS.

BORN INTO THE WORLD OF FASHION, DENIM PASSION IS EMBROILED INTO BOTH OFTHEIRLINEAGES. VANESSA TROICE (FASHION DESIGNER) IS PART OF THE THIRD GENERATION OF DENIM PRODUCERS, AND DANIELA ASKENAZI (COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST) IS PART OF THE THIRD GENERATION OF TEXTILE DISTRIBUTORS. THERE WAS NO DOUBT DENIM HAD TO BE THEIR MAIN FABRIC. IT RUNS IN THEIR BLOOD!

DENIM IS MY PASSION!

WHEN I THINK ABOUT MY CHILDHOOD, I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT GOING TO THE DENIM FACTORY WITH MY DAD. AS A YOUNG GIRL, I WAS FASCINATED BY THE FABRICS AND TEXTURES. THE FACTORY AND THE LOVE FOR DENIM THAT GREW IN ME WAS THE MAIN REASON I DECIDED TO GET INTO FASHION DESIGN SCHOOL.

I THINK OF DENIM’S LIFE AS A PERSON’S LIFE. WITH PISO UNO, I SEEK TO MANIFEST THIS CONNECTION. WHEN WE ARE BORN, WE ARE EXACTLY LIKE A NEW PIECE OF DENIM FABRIC. IT IS THROUGH TIME THAT WE EXPERIENCE DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES THAT BREAK US APART, INK US, OR EVEN REINVENT US. WOUNDED, WE BECOME MORE VALUABLE, MORE GENUINE, AND MORE AUTHENTIC. AS WITH PEOPLE, DENIM BECOMES STRONGER WHEN IT GETS INTERVENED.  AS THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BRAND, MY WISH IS TO COMMUNICATE THIS IN EVERY SINGLE PIECE DESIGNED.

PISO UNO AWAKENED MY INNATE PASSION FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT PROCESSES. I LOVE FINDING NEW WAYS OF COMMUNICATING OUR DESIGNS TO THE WORLD. MY CREATIVITY IS EXPRESSED THROUGH VIDEOS, PHOTOS, AND WORDS.

I SEEK TO COMMUNICATE DIFFERENTLY, TO REACH A WIDER AUDIENCE, AND TO SHARE OUR PHILOSOPHY AND INSPIRATION. I HAVE AN EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT TO MEXICO, TO THE BEAUTY OF ITS SIMPLICITY AND THE RICHNESS OF ITS TALENT. I CONSTANTLY SHARE MEXICAN CRAFTSMANSHIPTHROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AND LOOKBOOKS.
